May 2007
Welcome to the May edition of the AIS Elementary newsletter.
Please visit our new online portfolio page and see some recent work.
This months events and announcements:
- There will be no school for students on the 3rd, 4th, or 7th. Please enjoy some time outside and with family!
- The opening ceremony for the new kindergarten building will be in the morning on Tuesday, May 8th. Many visitors will come to celebrate with us and the students will be performing a song to open the event. (students, please wear your AIS sweatshirts / t-shirts that day...regular classes in the afternoon)
- We will have a field trip to the Oji Zoo on Thursday, May 24th (Zions birthday!). Please wear AIS shirts and bring a picnic lunch if you are not in the lunch program.
Some continuing focus areas for school and home cooperation are practicing listening and obeying right away. The saying to remember is,
Obeying means doing what I am asked and doing it quickly because I love you.
Remember our "big picture" goals for this term are "communication" and "connection". We are learning about talking to teachers, friends, family and to God and we will talk about how things are related and work together in science, in social studies, in math, and writing.
Also, we will continue to learn about the idea of heart, or true honesty. It is so important to realize that our inside reasons are more important than our outward actions. If our inside reasons are not good, even our helpful actions are not helpful and even our kind words are not kind. We will all practice being kind and helpful to show love to others and to God.
Thank you! Have a great month!-Elementary Teachers

Jesus taught us to pray...
Our Papa in heaven,
You are so good and very cool.
Help us show others that you love them,
and help us listen to you.
Give us what we need today.
Forgive us for our mistakes and selfishness
as we forgive others who hurt us.
Keep us from trouble
and protect us from danger.
Thank you!
