Aims: This course will assist students in acquiring and developing basic english skills related to the design industry. The focus area will be vocabulary for basic communication and networking in the international design community. 4. Objectives: By the end of this course, course members should be able to comprehend and use several basic industry-specific words and phrases. They should have the tools and the confidence to continue learning and using english for various design, collaboration, and social networking activities. 5. Content: This is a basic timeline that may be subject to change based on student ability and other pacing factors. Week 1 (9/30): Week 2 (10/7): Week 3 (10/14): Week 4 (10/21): Week 5 (10/28): Week 6 (11/4): Week 7 (11/11): Week 8 (11/18): Week 9 (11/25): Week 10 (12/2): Week 11 (12/16): Week 12 (1/6): Week 13 (1/13): Week 14 (1/20): Week 15 (1/27): 6. Texts: This course is internet and classroom based and there are no required texts. 7. Assessment: This course is mainly assessed on a participatory level, though completion of the tasks is also required to build and progress through the course. 8. Penalties: Assignments and tasks must be submitted by the due date. The main benefit of completion is to equip the student to move to the next task so there is no penalty but a reason must be provided in such circumstances. 9. Relationship between course assessment and course objectives The tasks and class participation are designed to reinforce the instruction and are, therefore, integral to reaching the class objectives. 10.
